Join your guide on a scenic, historic, and delicious ebike tour in Istria! Departing from the small town of Vodnjan, neighbouring Pula, this bike tour will take you along beautiful coastal and forest paths, stopping by fortresses, churches, and Istrian kažuns before finishing in a family winery for a scrumptious tasting of local wine and olive oil.
Meet your guide in the centre of Vodnjan, where you will be handed out your ebikes and safety helmets and given a quick briefing about the equipment and the activity. Then, your Istrian cycling adventure will begin, cycling through olive groves, pretty paths bordered with dry stone walls and old stone churches. After approximately 10 km (6 miles), you will enter the land of 5 100-year-old coastal fortresses, where you will dismount your bikes to explore more on foot. This spot also provides an amazing view of the Brijuni Islands, so make the most of the photo opportunities here to capture some memories.
After the fortresses, you and your guide will hit the bikes again and pedal off to a hidden beach, where you will take another break to cool off in the sea. Once you're all dried off, you will cycle along the sea in the direction of the Church of Saint Fosca and three typical Istrian kažuns - the three largest kažuns in the world. Your guide will tell you everything there is to know about this remarkable, ancient feat of architecture that exists only in Istria.
After all this culture and exercise, you will head on your last leg of cycling in the direction of a family-owned winery for some well-earned refreshments. There, you will get to taste 5 types of wine and 2 olive oils, as well as receive a lesson on the processes involved to produce wine and oil - the perfect guide to Istrian delicacies!
The tour will end in Vodnjan, back where you began, calf muscles well-trained and noses delightfully rosy. This tour is available without the wine and olive tasting if preferred. A third option includes a 2-course Istrian meal. Starting times are in the afternoon if you select the tastings; if you select the tour without tasting, a morning departure is also available.
